Couldn't bring up the arndale board with linaro ubuntu server

Asked by sumanth

Hi,
I followed the procedure in https://wiki.linaro.org/Boards/Arndale/Setup/EnterpriseUbuntuServer
After I poweron, I couldn't see any thing in my serail terminal window. I can not estimate what is happening.
FYI, I followed both the procedures mentioned in the wiki.

Any pointers in this regard are highly appreciated.

Hi,
I have tried the approach mentioned in the wiki, but still couldn't bring up the board.
Below are the steps I followed.

1. I have set the jumper setting to 001000 (from 1 to 6)
2. I connected the RS232 to usb cable to my host PC.
3. Wrote the SD card as mentioned in wiki using curl.
4. Powered the board and hold the switch A for 2-3 seconds.
5. Alternatively I opened a minicom window in my linux host as per the settings mentioned in wiki.

When i switch on the board, all I see is 2 blue LEDS near power button, 1 blue LED near sdcard and 1 red LED on CPU module.

Note: The serial communication is good. I have verified it by shorting 2 and 3 pins of RS232 male and successfully echoed the characters from my minicom terminal.

Please let me know if I am missing any thing here.
Awaiting for your response

I figure out the issue. The CPU module is not properly installed on the base board.
The rubber foam kind of thing beneath the board kind of pops up the CPU module which makes it inaccessible.
Thanks for your help Rony Nandy

In my case, the cpu module on base board is not properly inserted . I bought a couple of screws and fit it.
Also, the minicom in my linux is not showing any serial display. I used putty in windows for my serial communication.
Also, use https://releases.linaro.org/13.02/ubuntu/arndale/ and it has its own wiki underneath.

Good luck
