"best practices" for tagging / sync with RTM

Asked by CTS

I get that RTM uses lists and astrid uses tags; I'm close to getting things to work well. But the tags and lists are slightly out of whack: Main Freelance Project gets turned into main_freelance_project, Health into "health," and so on, creating two sets of tags. (Astrid makes things a bit worse by alphabetizing capped words first and then alphebetizing lc tags!

I can delete one tag, of course, but the problem seems to recur with syncs. (I thought lower-casing my Lists in RTM would help but it didn't really.)

Anyone have any "best practices" style tips for dealing with these hiccups? Even setting cost aside, I prefer Astrid to the RTM app.

CTS,

Hang tight, I'm working out the kinks with a new RTM plugin that has
first-class list support, so you will be able to use lists in addition
to tags.

In the interim, one thing I've done is to eschew lists in favor of
"Smart Lists" which search by tag. So in RTM i create a smart list with
"tag:health", and that helps me simulate list functionality. Thanks &
God bless.

Tim,
Thanks for the note. I actually have come up with a pretty good work-around. If I lowercase my tags, and lowercase my RTM lists, they sync up pretty well. (I still have to move new tasks from the rtm inbox, but I don't end up with duplicate lists in Astrid.)
Looking forward to the improvements ... I'm a fan.
Best,
Chris
