What is "launching" vs. "opening"?

Asked by Lalo Martins

When I'm doing "custom" animations, I can set different animations for "launching" and "opening". What do these mean?

(btw, I'd probably put this on the FAQ, or even on the UI itself...)

Hi,

Launching is when you have clicked on a launcher (and the application is launching).

Opening is when a normal window opens on the desktop.

You'll probably want to keep both the same for a consistent look..in the future we may merge the two for the same reasons.

To be more precise "opening" animation is played when a new icon is displayed by AWN (new window opened / applet added).

I don't think these should be same in the future, because "launching" is more like "attention" - maybe these two should be the same.

Can you help with this problem?
