What happens to symlinks?

My home dir has symlinks inside it, if I restore - will I still have symlinks - or will they come back as full files+directories (I want them to come back as symlinks)

As long as you don't activate 'Copy links' or 'Copy unsafe links' in Expert Options your symlinks will be restored as symlinks.

'Copy links' will make rsync to copy the linked file/folder instead of the link. 'Copy unsafe links' does the same but only for absolute links (starting with an '/') and those that point outside the backup directory tree.
