I'm unable to log into https://staging.launchpad.net/

Asked by Richard Barker

I'm trying to log into https://staging.launchpad.net to practise creating a project and working with it. When I try this I get "Password does not match". I'm logging in with my current Launchpad username and password.

I'm logged into Launchpad just fine, and my password is now over 4 days old. If my understanding is correct, it should have synced from the main Launchpad to the staging system by now.

I've had a quick look in the Ubuntu forums and can't see an answer to this question, can you assist please?

I think there are two issues happening here.

1. Launchpad does not have identity management; registration and login happen in Ubuntu SSO. That information is not synced with Launchpad.

2. It is not clear, but I suspect that login.staging is a staging server for Ubuntu SSO and if so, then you need to register with it until that application's data is synced.

I took a look into staging, according to the "What's this?" link on the front page:

"You can't create a new account on staging — instead, create one in Launchpad's production environment and then wait up to 24 hours for your account to be available on staging."

I'm happy to wait a little longer for it to sync, but according to that it should have done so by now.

Can I create a test project on launchpad and just delete it when I'm done learning?

I'm not sure about accounts, but sometimes passwords can lag quite a bit behind on staging. The password that currently works for me on staging is over a month old, for example.

I'm not sure if that's how it's *supposed* to be.

I had to reset my password anyway before I could log into the main launchpad site. It looks like it will be a waiting game then.

I'll create a test project here and then just delete it when I'm done with it. Thanks for your help guys!
