How can I reclaim my old login?

Asked by Jack Senechal

Before the OpenID implementation, I was using the username "jacksenechal". Somehow in the transition my username has been set to "jack-jacksenechal", and when I try to change it back to "jacksenechal" it says that is already in use, won't I please choose something else. I'm also unable to log into the old one, since I've either forgotten the email address that was associated with it, or it's been disabled. Nothing I've tried has worked, and I don't see a way to log in using username instead of email address. How can I reclaim it so that I have a continuity of my account history?

Jack, I just sent you a message at the old address. (you should be able to do the same, using the "contact this user" link on the old account)

If you receive that message, it should let you know what your old address is, and then you can use it to recover the old account. Once you have done that, please post here using your old account to verify you have access again. Then we can merge the two accounts if you like.

Hi, thanks for that. Unfortunately I haven't received anything. As far as I know I have not closed any email accounts for years. Can you tell me at what domain the old address is?

Never mind that previous message, I've found it. My forwarding setup seems to have stopped on that address, but I've got access to it. So, this is the post from the old account to confirm that I still have it.

Let's merge the new account into this one, then.

Thanks!!

So... I'm going back through old "waiting on someone else" tickets, and this still seems to be unresolved. It seems the admins really aren't paying attention. However, there is some good news. There is now a feature which allows users to do their own Launchpad account merges.

First, log in to the account you want to keep.
Then go to this URL:

 https://launchpad.net/people/+requestmerge

Follow the instructions on screen, and you should be able to merge your accounts.

Does this do what you need?
