no sound???

Asked by Al..

Hi

I have all the dependecies installed on my machine (PIII, xubuntu 7.10) but Decibel doesn't play my music. If I use totem for playing music it does, so I think it's not a codec problem.

Here is the output from the terminal when I try to play a song:

 Traceback (most recent call last):
 File "/usr/share/decibel-audio-player/src/modules/GSTPlayer.py", line 160, in handleMsg
   elif msg == modules.MSG_CMD_PLAY: self.play(params['filename'])
 File "/usr/share/decibel-audio-player/src/modules/GSTPlayer.py", line 101, in play
   self.player.set_state(gst.STATE_NULL)
AttributeError: GSTPlayer instance has no attribute 'player'

I have installed decibel in my other computer (ubuntu 7.10) and works nice without any kind of error or message from the terminal output.

Any idea?

Totem uses xine by default while DAP uses GStreamer. You need to make sure that both GStreamer AND the GStreamer plugins you need (e.g., mp3, mpc) are installed. This not the default on XUbuntu.
