GNOME Do's input search criteria suggestion

Asked by mwm

I've been using GNOME Do for a while now and I've noticed that although it indexes the applications names, it isn't very smart on the user's perspective.
What I mean is:
if someone has an application, it can be found by its name. But another way we should have is the ability to customize this same objective.
Say we're trying to launch Firefox. We'd type "fir" and it should appear if the word wouldn't clash with another similar application's name. But people that launch Firefox all the time would prefer to only type "ff" and it would have the same effect.
So, what I suggest is:
in a first time, we type "ff" and then, because it doesn't supposedly find Firefox as first item, the term of witch we're trying to achieve, we press the down arrow key and it shows some top applications based on a search criteria. As it founds Firefox, we would select it and then, it automatically assigns "ff" to Firefox's launch and obviously to the first item to appear when that keyword is inserted. So next time we type "ff" it shows Firefox in first place because we wanted and said so and it became a custom launch criteria.

The "smarts" that you suggest were planned months ago.
