opened folders

Asked by Muhammad Zubeir

When I open an application, it appears in the docky and so when it is minimized, that even if it does not have a launcher there. However when I open a folder that does not already have a launcher in the docky, nothing appears there. Hence I have had to display the opened windows in a panel, which is not what I prefer. The question is therefore how to display all opened folders in the docky such that there is no need to display them in any panel.

Folder launchers open in Nautilus. So you will have a nautilus icon (of some sort) appear and the folder will be linked to that.

Yes I also found it out. But to my opinion there should have been the option of having an icon that represent each opened window. Better still if that icon could be the actual preview of the window itself. I shifted to the awn dock because I found some of these options there. I also found interesting applets like show desktop and sound control there. I think i am going to continue using awn until these options become available in docky. I have a preference for the visual style of docky. I think it comes near to the mac os dock.

FYI we have a show desktop docklet in the 2.1.0 dev branch, which I assume you were not using (but we provide a PPA for).

Thanks, I will try to get the new version. But are you having the option of having an icon for each opened window in future?

There is an open bug report in regards to how we handle Nautilus windows.

Can you help with this problem?
