How to change the background colour

Asked by kylea

My icon text is white and the backgound of the Drawers is light grey. Hence I cannot read the text clearly. Is there a way to change the Drawer background colour.

Hi,

Currently the background color is chosen from the average background color of your wallpaper and then scaled/desaturated a bit. Try changing the color_scaling option in preferences to make it darker (0=black, 1=average background color). If the background gets close to pure white, the font color is supposed to change to black, but I may not have chosen the threshold very well.

Best,
Ian

Color changes like color_scaling and transparency require a restart of the drawer to see the effects. If it still doesn't work, please submit a bug report.

I am having the same problem because (I belive) of the gnome desktop theme I am using. The color_scaling and transparency settings appear to affect only the background of the title bar, but the areas under the decorations (thumbtack, settings, close, etc.) as well as the background of the drawer itself (where the icons appear) have been modified by the theme to a light grey background.

The theme I am using the "Mediterranean Night" which was posted on Webupd8 a few weeks ago.

I was planning to grab versions of everything and submit some screenshots if you think it will help, I just haven't gotten to it. Everything still works, it just looks bad when I am not using the Ambience theme.

A fix for this has been committed to the code and will be available in an upcoming release. If you'd like to test before the release, you can install a daily build from here: ppa:ian-berke/testing

Can you help with this problem?
