How to encrypt file names retroactively?

Asked by Miłosz Kosobucki

I noticed that file name encryption was added to ecryptfs. However I already have my ecryptfs Private folder set up with earlier versions of ecryptfs that didn't support file name encryption. Is there any way to migrate my Private folder to encrypted filenames?

Similar problem. I am running Lucid now but as an upgrade from several earlier releases with the same homedir, and filenames in ~/.Private are still unencrypted. mount says

/home/.../.Private on /home/.../Private type ecryptfs (ecryptfs_sig=...,ecryptfs_cipher=aes,ecryptfs_key_bytes=16)

with no mention of ecryptfs_enable_filename_crypto=y. Is there some documentation on how to retroactively encrypt filenames in an old ~/.Private?

Can you help with this problem?
