Crossfading feature for exaile?

Asked by D.Sync

As a foobar2k user for a while now, I really likes it's crossfading option. In fact, there are also other music media player in Linux platform such as Rhythmbox that offers such option. So why doesn't exaile implement such function too?

I would like a crossfading plugin that crossfade sound whenever I MANUALLY changing the tracks or when switching to other song after full normal playback.

This is discussed in bug 135926. Long story short, last time I checked, crossfading in GStreamer is very difficult.

It's just some information for anyone who wants to implement this feature in Exaile. It shows the changes made to Rhythmbox's code to add crossfading / gapless playback capability.

exaile 0.3 will have gapless support, and is designed such that adding crossfade support should be relatively easy, but it is not a planned feature. patches are, as always, welcome.

Can you help with this problem?
