How to get minimize button?

Asked by Nishant George Agrwal

I have tried setting the button-layout key in dconf-editor to "close:minimize" , but the button doesn't appear on the window, although clicking on the area does minimize the window. How do I get the minimize button to show?

The minimize button icon was removed in eGtk, the elementary theme. So switching to another theme should fix this. Alternatively you could probably just copy the icon from a previous version of eGtk, but you may also need to adjust the metacity theme file, so switching to a different theme would be a lot easier.

I guess the code for drawing the icon was also dropped. So it would be easiest to look on the web for an older version of the elementary theme, perhaps you can even find it in the revision historty of eGtk.
You'd then just replace the metacity folder.

here's a very crude implementation:

back up your /usr/share/themes/elementary/metacity-1 directory and then add these two files, replacing the original xml
