meaning of option 'Persistent mount directory'

Asked by Johan Samyn

Hi,
In the version of GEncfsM I just installed (1.8.10~ubuntu13.10.1), I see an option 'Persistent mount directory' (under option 'Safe password in keyring').
I cannot find any explanation about this option in the help provided with the program.
Could you please explain it's purpose ansd working to me?
TIA
Johan

Thank you for your question.

It means that the mount-directory exists even when the stash is not mounted (hence it is persistent).

Moritz

PS: The help is not up-to-date yet because I'll have to manually update the translations when editing the docuentation. I'll add it when I find some time.

Thanks Moritz. I see.
But ... what could be the use/benefit of that? (Besides showing that the Encfs folder is not empty when nothing is mounted in it.)

I somewhat guessed the reason for the docs not being up-to-date. No problem, it's your time.
And thanks for the nice gui for this functionality. It's really easy this way to manage encrypted folders.
As a small gesture of appreciation, I just completed the dutch translations.

Many thanks for your contribution.
This feature goes back to https://answers.launchpad.net/gencfsm/+question/247615 and is also useful when the mount-folder is inside a write-only directory such as /media.

Thanks for explaining, Moritz.
Drop me a line when the docs are updated, so I can revisit the transliations.
