Asked by TobiasDomhan

Why is GINN not started upon boot on an ubuntu system, but rather you have to start it yourself inside a terminal?

The reason ginn is not autostarted in Ubuntu 11.04 is that we had not performed adequate quality assurance prior to the release freeze and we did not have sufficient confidence it would not cause a regression in the overall desktop experience.

The autostart configuration is in the current source tree and will be available soon in the uTouch PPA.

This is, in fact, bug LP: #739093.

To have ginn start automatically, I suggest you install the version from the uTouch PPA at https://launchpad.net/~utouch-team/+archive/daily -- it contains a script to start ginn automatically at session login (and it also contains a number of bugfixes).
