Cannot add button's to the menu bar when this extension is enabled

Asked by doug white

this extension will not allow buttons to be added to the menu bar.

the "file edit view..." pull down menu bar goes to the upper panel in unity which is what i think is intended, but when i try to add buttons to the menu bar it doesn't work.

that is i go to view-->toolbars-->custonmize add a button, like the "fullscreen" button for example, to the menu bar it doesn't work

when i disable this extension i can add buttons to the menu bar

i would like to be able to add buttons to the menu bar but can't when this extension is enabled, did you mean for the customization of the menu bar to be turned off with this extension?

That is because the menubar is rendered by Unity rather than Firefox, and applications can't just drop random widgets or applets in there (note, that only Firefox ever supported this anyway). The items on the panel are meant to behave consistently (like a menu), and dropping random widgets on there would break that, just like the mess of random applets in gnome-panel. In addition to that, supporting this at the menu protocol level would add an additional layer of complexity that we just don't want to maintain.

It's a feature not a bug.

Can you help with this problem?
