Install bzr "sudo apt-get install bzr"

Then pull the latest trunk branch "bzr branch lp:gnomenu"

Go to the directory you just pulled "cd gnomenu"

Manually install "sudo make install"

You do not have to delete your current version of GnoMenu as this
process will update it, unless you modified the default directory
structure during the current versions installation.

The latest version is available from GetDeb.

But why is there no repository for lucid?

In a nutshell? The person who created the debs for the GnoMenu PPA has not done so since the 2.3 release. getdeb has been doing it since and getdeb will create their lucid repository after it officially launches.
