how to use Templates

running linux mint. setup HomeBank and created Schedules for monthly payment income. Would like to setup up template for gas where everything but the amount would be set. Using edit Schedule/template created a template entry but am not sure how to use it when creating a entry for the credit card account. All the doc I have read describes how to create schedule accounts and nothing about templates nor how to use these when entering transactions. Any help would be greatly appreciated
