Hi John,

Please check whether hplip-3.12.11.run file is downloaded properly?
Also check where you are downloading.. (i.e in ~/Downloads or ~/Desktop or some where else)??

Go to Downloaded directory and check whether file exists or not
$ ls -lh hplip-3.12.11.run

$ sh hplip-3.12.11.run

and follow steps from http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath

I have downloaded hplip-3.12.11.run.
I can see it on my Downloads screen- it is the first item.

I searched for the file using: $ ls -lh hplip-3.12.11.run and $ sh hplip-3.12.11.run

I got this result:

john@john-GA-890GPA-UD3H:~$ ls -lh hplip-3.12.11.run
ls: cannot access hplip-3.12.11.run: No such file or directory
john@john-GA-890GPA-UD3H:~$ sh hplip-3.12.11.run
sh: 0: Can't open hplip-3.12.11.run

Why can I see the file on the Downloads page but the Terminal can't find it?

Hi John,

I think, you are downloading the hplip-3.12.11.run file in one folder and checking in other folder.

Please go to the downloaded folder or try following steps:-

$ find -name hplip-3.12.11.run
--> this displays the file location.
e.g. if it displays as, "~/Downloads/hplip-3.12.11.run", then go to "~/Downloads" directory.
$ cd ~/Downloads

install the hplip-3.12.11.run
$ sh hplip-3.12.11.run

Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath
