Hplip-install asks for superus

Using Debian version 7 (wheezy) to install hplip. But running hplip-install it fails when asking for superuser password. There is no superuser password as far as I can work out. Sudo is used for root access. Only password is logged in user which does not work.
Is there a way to install without this limitation?
Hplip latest version used.

can you try running command 'sudo hplip-install'
