Rename a HP Laserjet Printer

Asked by Barnert

I am using an HP Laserjet Pro m404dn printer.
My operating system: Kubuntu 24.04
I am unable to rename the HP printer using HPLIP tools (HP device manager) and using system-config-printer. I can create a new printer name for the HP Laserjet, but afterwards the old printer name reappears in the printers' ist. So, I have two names for one printer

I think I have the solution. Firstly, the HP printer is set up automatically by CUPS, and secondly I used HPLIP for this. I didn't know that the two setup types work independently of each other. If you delete a CUPS printer, CUPS installs it immediately again. Apparently, CUPS scans the network and local printers constantly. If a printer is actually not installed, it is installed immediately. In case I am wrong with my conclusions, please correct me
