nona not choosing Nvidia GPU

This is on ubuntu 55-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 15 14:27:21 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
on a thinkpad 480 , nvidia driver with GEFORCE MX150
Using GPU for remapping: true
Nona is suddenly only using
nona: using graphics card: VMware, Inc. Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.8, 256 bits)
which is very slow
NB. I have used hugin for many years and GPU has always worked (faster of course)
Any hints?
