the pencil tool is suddenly so sensitive too many nodes

Asked by tlandis100

The pencil tool is suddenly too sensitive. It's creating so many nodes that the only simple line I can draw anymore is a straight line. Formerly simple freehand lines now have to be extensively edited to be useful. Can I adjust the sensitivity of this tool or limit the number of nodes it produces? I have already used the "simplify" command in the "Path" menu; it doesn't fix the problem. Is it likely that changing the sensitivity of my mouse in os 10.4.11 might have an effect? Is it dependent on how magnified the area in which you are drawing is?

Try the smoothing control on the pencil toolbar. It's likely that you have it set far too low at present. Set it to something like 60 (for Bezier) or 40 (for spiro).

I've never seen this setting before! You're right, it was set to 4!! I think this should fix the problem; thank you so much for you prompt and informative reply! (I'm too sleepy to test it right now).

Once again, many thanks!
