Need to know how to cut a black outline arounf my lettering

I've got the image correct in inkscape - but when I go to Signcut, the black outline of the yellow letters is the same size. I've tried everything!

Presumably your black outline is a stroke, and the yellow is a fill, both for the same path. I've never used SignCut, but I assume it only cares about the path, so what you are experiencing is expected.

If you do Stroke-to-Path (on the Path menu), you will lose the yellow, but you will get a path that goes around the outline, both on the inside and the outside, which I'm guessing is what you want.
