How to edit a jpeg file

Asked by Shikha Gupta

Hi,
I am a Mac User and want to edit a .jpeg file (from Adobe photoshop) in Inkscape. For some unknown reason, Inkscape does not allow me to edit anything in that file other than the orientation and size of the entire image. What am I doing wrong?
Will appreciate the help

Inkscape is a vector graphics editor. You are trying to use the wrong tool for the job. Please use GIMP, Adobe Photoshop or any other tools suited for editing bitmap images (i.e. JPEG, TIFF, PNG etc.).

I still can't understand why is everything so much complicated with Inkspace, Photoshop, and software like these. I've been using this: http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/pages/jpg-file/ to edit jpg files, and others, with just a click or two without any errors, and with those, you have to install plugins, and get a million different software that can open some file formats... Very unnecessary in my opinion.

Can you help with this problem?
