edit existing text

Asked by Christina Pongracic

Hello,

Someone sent me a file of a flyer that was created in Inkscape. I need to edit the existing text on the flyer to update it, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that. I've tried clicking on the text tool, I've tried clicking on the text itself, but nothing happens except a blinking cursor. Please walk me through the steps, as this is the first time I'm using this software.

Thank you!
Christina

You can edit existing text this way ...

1. Click the Text Tool icon in the left side toolbar (5th for the bottom, looks like a big 'A') with a tooltip 'Create and edit existing text objects'
2. Move the mouse over the text you want to edit
3. You should see a blue rectangle around the text (if not then its possibly an image that you cant directly edit as text)
4. If you click inside the blue rectangle and see a blinking cursor then its text you can edit, simply start typing and your changes should appear.

Can you help with this problem?
