copying objects from one svg file to the next

Asked by Sarabjeet Singh

When I copy a vector object from the svg file and paste it in a new window, the object that gets pasted is the image file of the object and not the vector object itself. I never had this problem when I was using Inkscape on ubuntu but started getting it in my mac.

Are there any default paste options that need to be tinkered with ? I could not find any.

thanks,
Sarabjeet

This is due to a conflict with the pasteboard syncing features of Apple's X11/Xquartz.

Please change the X11 preferences for the pasteboard as described in the FAQ:
<http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/FAQ#Copying_and_pasting_in_Inkscape_creates_pixellated_images_instead_of_copying_the_vector_objects>
or as shown in this screenshot:

Can you help with this problem?
