Hi
I guess you are referring to the following Inkscape functionality:
1: deselect all objects (or otherwise everything must be selected)
2: go to "File" > "Document properties"
3: in the first tab: in "Custom Size", click on the "+" in front of resize page to content
4: click on "Resize page to drawing or selection"
