The tutorial on Hiking Club logo

Asked by Stephen Edwards

At 6. Trim the tops of the letters. When I click path difference nothing happens. I have tried selecting the letters and using "Group selected objects", then using path difference, but it makes no difference. The only way I can trim the letters is to select one letter then use path difference. then select the next letter etc. Then at 7. I select the letters and click duplicate, I don't see anything happen and I don't understand why I am doing this, but carry on as instruted. I select the text and snow path click on Path intersection and all that happens is the snow path disappears. Each time I try the same thing happens and I can't get any further. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

To make path differences, you need to deal with paths, so groups won't do. To "group" your letters together, you could select them all and instead of grouping, use Path > Union (or Path > Combine). You then have one path made of all our letters, that you can substract your other path to.

Hope it helps, regards
