blur effect cutoff at bounds of object

Asked by Dwayne Summerfield

make a closed irregular polygon (draw bezier curves tool - 3 segments)
change the stroke width to 9.0
blur the stroke (1.0)

the object shows the blurred areas clipped to the original (9.0) object dimensions so the blur effect is cutoff at the edges of the selected object. Is there a either counter this or increase the size of the bounding box selecting the object to not cutoff the blur effect?

In Filter->Filter editor , go to the "filter general settings". number there are percentages of the object size that determine the size of the affected region.

So "-0.5 -0.5 2 2" makes a region double the size of the object, centered on the object.
