Default font

Asked by Matt White

When I open Inkspace, the default font is Bitstream Vera Sans.
Is there a way of changing the default to say, Times New Roman?
Thanks, Matt

Yes. Under the Inkscape preferences (CTRL+SHIFT+P) you'll find a "tools" section, and under that section you'll find the text tool preferences. There is a button to take the style from the selection. All you have to do is create a new text object with the desired stile (font, variant, fill), select it and press that button.
The style will be remembered and will be the default for the text tool thereafter.

Thank you for your suggestion. It didn't work for me that way.
But I kept looking around and then tried the Dropdown "Text" to enter "Text and Font" and found that the default setting could be applied there. Or, <Shift><Ctrl><T>.

Matt
