Further to the subject question, I found my original bug report (#372902) and tried to remove its classification as a duplicate of bug #215902 but the Edit function simply returned a blank rectangle on the screen. When I tried to position the cursor in this rectangle, it disappeared so I was unable to remove the status of duplicate. Could someone please re-instate the bug report #372902 as an open bug? Thanks.

Larry: It is a duplicate, since it's caused by the same issue.
And it's fixed in the development version, so it's ok that it's marked as fixed.

If you really need that feature, get a nightly build from inkscape.org or compile inkscape.
The current stable version (0.46) still has the bug but as it's fixed in SVN, the upcoming Inkscape 0.47 won't have that problem.

Thanks Guillermo. Adrian Johnson sent me an e-mail decribing how to work around the problem by saving my drawing in PDF format. For now, this provides a satisfactory solution. I look forward to the release of Version 0.47 for the permanent fix. Thanks again for your reply.
