Cant open photos in Nero anymore, only Inkscape

Asked by Sally

I am new to Inkscape & was trying to edit some photos. The first I opened and edited in Nero Photoshop, but later got a dialog box asking how I wanted to open {another} photo. I selected Inkscape. Now all my photos will only open in Inkscape (which would be OK if I could use it better). I cant open any using Nero. How can I get it working again? Im not proficient enough with Inkscape to use it very much.

Inkscape is a vector image editor, so it's not very suitable for editing photographs.

It sounds like you've changed the file association for .jpg files. You should still be able to open the photos in Nero Photoshop by starting up Nero Photoshop and opening them from there (through the File menu).

To fix the file association, I would do this (this is for Windows XP - it may be different for your operating system): go to My Computer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types, select JPG in the list, click the Change button, select Nero Photoshop, click OK, click Close.

I forgot to mention that you should also still be able to open a photo by right-clicking on it, choosing Open With, and selecting Nero Photoshop. And this provides another way to fix the file association: after choosing Open With, click the Choose Program option, choose Nero Photoshop, check the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file", and click OK. (Again this is for Windows XP, and may be different for your operating system.)

Can you help with this problem?
