When am I (not) automatically subscribed to a bug report after commenting on it?

Asked by Umang Varma

Hi!
I want to know when Launchpad automatically subscribes to a bug and when it doesn't. In some of my recent comments on bugs, I haven't automatically been subscribed (my name wasn't in the column, and I had a "Subscribe" option). I thought that I was always automatically notified. Am I wrong?

(BTW: I've refreshed the page after submitting my comment, so it isn't because the AJAX isn't changing that when I submit my comment).

Thanks

Umang

Launchapd automatically subscribes the bug reporter and the bug supervisor to a bug. Commenting on a bug does not subscribe a user. User can sibscribe to a bug using the (+) subscribe link from the action menu. If you are subscribed, the icon will change from add to edit, and you will appear in the list of subscribers.

There is a related subscription feature that may cause confusion. You can subscribe to a project, series, milestone, or package, and you will receive email about changes about that structure (bug mail at this time). You are not subscribed to the structures bugs though; you do not have extra privileges to view and change the bug. If you are subscribed to a structure, you will appear in the also notified list of a bug. You can visit each structure using the bread crumbs to change your structural subscription.

Also, is there an "automatically subscribe me to all bugs I comment on" feature implemented or being planned?
