Upstream translation update impossible to remove strings?

Asked by Dirk Stöcker

In the JOSM project currently all languages are "green" effectively telling that the synchronisation with upstream copied all the strings. But this is wrong for most languages. For these languages the strings should be marked "new", as they aren't contained in upstream at all.

I don't know what caused this, but I tried to fix it. I downloaded all languages, and uploaded the .po files again, but all translations have been stripped from the upstream translations (i.e. set to empty string). Now after the first files are imported I see, that this has no effect at all.

So please either fix this or tell me, how I can fix it myself. Uploading an upstream file should cause the status to be set accordingly. So when the string is empty in the upstream file, it should be set to new in Launchpad even if it was "upstream" in the past.

P.S. We use the manual interface for upload/download.

I do not see this at <https://translations.launchpad.net/josm>. Am I looking in the correct place. I wonder if you were looking when the translation stats were being recalculated.

For example "Croatian" is green, but it should not be, as it is not contained in upstream.

But after I looked into the translation itself it seems the difference between New/Translated has been removed, so the upstream status is no longer visible? If yes, that would have removed a very useful feature.

This feature was removed recently for upstream message sharing changes. I understand this change from a distro perspective, but not from a project perspective. I reported a bug where the issue can be discussed.

Can you help with this problem?
