Removal of one or two productless branches.

Asked by Lauri Kainulainen

I succeeded in creating two branches without products and it would be cool if one of them could be removed.

The useless branch is "Desklets Desklet". Direct link: https://launchpad.net/people/luopio/+branch/+junk/devel

If creating branches without products is against policy or something, you can freely remove the KISS branch also.

Thanks in advance.

Deleting branches is currently a bit complicated to do manually. So unless there are data dissemination concerns, I encourage you to use the branch's status (set to abandoned) and whiteboard (explanatory message) to mark the branch as useless.

We plan to hide abandoned and merged branches from the main listings (bug 58889). In the meantime, you can rename the unneeded branch and use it the next time you would normally create a new branch.

Creating branches without a product is fine. We encourage users to register the correct product for their branch if it's not already in Launchpad, but we intentionally did not make it a prerequisite to using the basic Bazaar services.

By the way, we do plan to allow users to delete their branches (bug 34540). But it's not implemented yet and requires manual intervention by a system administrator.

Oh, just in case... did you notice that you can change the product assignation of a branch in the "Edit branch details" form?

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep the KISS branch if no product is required.
