Help changing KDE source packages for some Ubuntu templates

Asked by David Planella

In Oneiric, some KDE source packages and their associated translation templates have been rearranged upstream.

For Ubuntu, this means that the source package property of a great number of templates needs to be changed, which can only be done manually (no API to change the source package of a translation_template, as far as I can tell from the API docs).

This is quite a lot of work for the Ubuntu Translations Coordinators team, and very error-prone, as it needs to be done for each package individually, and it's a long list.

Therefore, I'd like to ask if there'd be a way to automate this from the Launchpad side (e.g. running a one-off database query to write these changes).

The changes themselves would simply be:

* Change the source package name for all templates under the current 'kdebase' Oneiric source package to 'kde-baseapps'
* Change the source package name for all templates under the current 'kdebase-runtime' Oneiric source package to 'kde-runtime'
* Change the source package name for all templates under the current 'kdebase-workspace' Oneiric source package to 'kde-workspace'

I'd appreciate any help on this.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot Danilo.

I apologise for not having closed the question earlier, but we needed to have the imports queue cleared up soon and in the end we decided to take matters to our own hands as the UTC team.

After identifying the templates that needed fixing, we went through all of them manually and changed the source packages where appropriate:

Oh, we've noticed a small number of templates that needed changing, and I was going to ask you about it (but then couldn't find the question to reference since you closed it as "Solved" :P). Btw, we still got 0+2+6 or something templates that are not yet "migrated": you might want to investigate those (they might be inactive, but just saying).

Sorry for it taking so long.
