Scilab : Uploaded files needs review

Asked by Sylvestre Ledru

Hello,

I am one of the dev of Scilab ( http://www.scilab.org ). We are considering using rosetta to translate our software.
However, I tried a few time to upload pot files (one month ago) but they haven't been accepted yet.
Can anyone accept them ?
We have one localization file per scilab module (we have around 50 modules to localize).

Hi Sylvestre,

Sorry for the delay in approving your files. For various reasons documented on https://help.launchpad.net/TranslationsImportPolicy, we have to manually approve these files, and the previous two weeks we were very busy.

I can see your uploads on https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/scilab/trunk/+imports

However, license on http://www.scilab.org/legal/ seems to indicate that Scilab is not free software, and Launchpad offers free translation services only to free software projects. If you are interested in commercial use, we'd be happy to discuss it with you. Please get in touch with me if you are interested.

Thanks for your message.
Sorry for not say it but the next version will be free (as speech). We are going to take the CECILL license (equivalent to the GPL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CeCILL )

That's a bit of a border-line case. I'll have to discuss this with Elliot Murphy, but he's on a vacation for few days (he should be back next week). I hope this delay is not a big concern.

For us, the sooner, the better ;)

Anyway, the current version doesn't have any localization. It will be for the next big release.
Here is the roadmap : http://www.scilab.org/developers/index_developers.php?page=roadmap I can ask for the word CECILL added in it if you prefer !

CeCILL is fine as a free software license.

Ok, I've approved the output_stream.pot and core.pot for import, they should be imported in a few minutes. You should make sure to mark Scilab as 'using Launchpad for translations officially', and then you should be able to direct translators to go to https://translations.edge.launchpad.net/scilab/trunk to start translating.

Good luck with that, and we'd be happy to hear any comments you've got about the system.

Thank you very much. It sounds very promising. I will upload the rest of the localization files when we have finished to clean them up.
