change the froglinux project in a distribution

Asked by Patrick Hetu

Hi, i register a project name FrogLinux but it's more a distribution than an project. So I ask you if it's possible to make it a distribution or just register a new distribution name FrogLinux?

I dont think it can be changed, so making a new distrobution is probably all you can do..

contact a launchpad admin, to see if they can remove the old project

Asking a question like this is already the appropriate way to contact a Launchpad admin.

There's not a lot of advantage in having a distribution (instead of a project today): you don't get package management, and you lose the ability to track branches and translations. Are you really sure you want to do this?

I've talk with other users/developers of launchpad and I think that being a distribution instead of a project will be more appropriate for FrogLinux because our principal works is branching packages that are already in Launchpad. Also, the personal-package-archives project that will later manage this for me but it's not finish yet and I'm not sure if it will be a distribution or a project feature.

PS: Sorry for my english

PPAs are not a distribution or a project feature -- they are associated to people and teams (hence the first P for Personal).

I don't think using a distribution right now is the appropriate choice for you. In the future, if we announce derivation support, we should reconsider, but for now I think you should leave this as is.
