magick-rotation does not work

Asked by Oscar Alcantara

Hello,
I'm new to linux and I have installed the magick-rotation on a Fujitsu ST5112 using mint 14 X86_64 (cinnamon). All the installation process went OK, no errors. The modules fujitsu_tablet and fujitsu_laptop modules are present, green icon appears at bottom and it is fully functional it tunrs on and off when clicked or tapped. I can rotate the screen manually using xrotate.py and every time I rotate the notification appears at top of screen but, I cannot rotate the screen using the bessel button.
Some of the buttons have some functionalty already defined, I can scroll up/down do a ESC, or a return and even the mail button launches the mail application.
Is it possible that button code is wrong?
Any idea other?
Thanks
OAM

Hi Oscar Alcantara,

Magick Rotation does not work for slate tablet PCs such as the ST5112 because there is no rotatable screen on a hinge and hence no hinge signal. We would have to incorporate accelerometer support into Magick to do that. We've talked about doing that but none of us have slates. Although someone did start looking into that a month or two ago I haven't heard anything back.

It sounds like the bezel button needs to be bound to a rotation script such as xrotate.py. For examples of doing that (along with simpler scripts) see the Rotation HOW TO, esp. appendix 2:
