git annex support?

Asked by Christopher Baines

I manage my music using git annex, and this has worked really well so far with my new phone running Ubuntu. I have the repository on the phone, in ~/Music, and have pushed across some files.

git annex manages files using symlinks, so the files that you see in the file browser are actually symlinks to the files in the .git/annex directory.

Currently, nothing shows up in the music app (songs, artists, ...) are just grey. Also, when I click on a file in the file browser, it gives the option to use Music, but when I select that, I get a popup that says "Failed to move file".

What I would really like to be able to do is play my music.

I am running version 2.1.867.1 on a BQ Aquaris E5. Let me know if you need any more information.

Thanks

Hi, thanks for your question! Could you file a bug if you want this functionality to work inside the music app? Also, could you attach the /home/phablet/.cache/upstart/mediascanner-2.0.log file for analysis in this bug/feature request?

Thanks!
Victor
