document: Domain to filter by uid

I installed the document addon and tried to filter cases (and other objects) by logged in user and
I wonder why a Domain for a folder like [('user_id','=',uid)] gives me

NameError: name 'uid' is not defined

in the server log if I try to access the folder by ftp?

Please can you give me a hint what I've done wrong?
