Group messages are not being received by users in V7

I am experiencing a problem when sending group messages in V7 on Ubuntu 12.04

I have created a group (test group1) in Messaging/My Groups/Join a group and added another user to that group (user1). I then click on "Send a message to the group", enter the message and hit the send button. The message then appears in the list of messages for that group below, however the message states that it was sent by me "to nobody". If I log in as user1 I can see "test group 1" under My Groups and if I click on it I can see the message that I sent, but there is no notification for the message in the inbox for user1.

If I go into Settings/Technical/Email/Messages I can view the message that was sent but the Notified Partners section is blank.

If I install a test database with the demo data and do the same thing it works as expected and the Notified Partners section for the message does contain the users that are following the test group so I imagine there is a problem with the way I have configured the groups.

Can someone suggest how I might troubleshoot the problem?

Well, I don't know what changed but this morning, on a whim, I deleted the followers in the test group and added them again and to my surprise it now works as expected.

So I guess this is solved, but apart from deleting and re-adding followers, nothing else changed so I can't really write anything more helpful for anyone else experiencing the same problem.

Ah, I just realised that I had changed a setting after all. I went into Settings/Technical/Email/Subtypes and ticked the default checkbox for 'Discussions' (it was unpicked previously). That made the difference. I needed to delete the existing followers and re-add them, but after that, it worked!
