Asked by rhaynes

Hi, this application has a lot of promise. Is there a possibility of a vi compatability mode ?

Hi,

as a vim user myself I understand your wish, but we try to keep pyroom down in complexity.

But have a look at http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=2231

Hi, I agree with the simplicity, however to play devil's advocate I noticed in another thread a user wanting syntax highlighting for LaTeX documents (which I will use also!!!) and there was a version issued I believe, VI compatability will be useful to just as many people (if not more) as the LaTeX syntax hightlighting.

Is there a way to achieve this through some add-on?

On the Mac OS I was able to add vi text-bindings to almost all applications that used the cocao text system, ie. it was added at the system level not the application level directly. Is this possible with linux ?

Hi, I am not sure if this helps as the details are beyond me...

Hi,

a) Vi key bindings in GTK won't work for PyRoom, as those only work on readonly widgets

b) I'm afraid adding vi bindings to PyRoom might really be out of scope for our limited target feature size.

Another thing you could try would be http://code.google.com/p/termroom/ - similar to PyRoom, but uses console applications inside for editing, e.g. vim or emacs

Can you help with this problem?
