How to deploy Rally as a service

In the wiki page 'Architecture' #1, it is said that we can run rally as a set of demons. But how? The instructions in 'How to' #2, looks like deploy rally as an App rather than a service (no rally threads can be seen when running `ps -ef | grep rally`).

And I'm not familiar with the meaning of the phrase 'service', is that means we can deploy rally in our cloud environment, so that rally can be integrated into CI ?
