sBackup and pbzip2

Asked by Franz Hartwig

Using gzip or bzip2 with sBackup causes very high cpu load (> 80 percent). Will there be support for pbzip2 or pigz?

No answer up to now - does it mean "never"?

AFAIK there are no concrete plans for supporting parallel compression. However, since this is an open source project, feel free to volunteer! It seems to me a minor amount of work, as far a coding goes, since the needed tools (pbzip, pibz) are already available.

P.S., a CPU load of about 80% indicates that the bottleneck may still be IO to your storage location, so a more efficient compression will not give higher throughput...

Yes, since it is an open source project ... Sorry, I don't fell free to volunteer. If I had the skills to do so, I would. Isn't it possible to ask a question without getting such a comment?

And no, the bottleneck is not the IO to my storage. I have deactivated the compression at all. Now the CPU load is o.k.

Can you help with this problem?
