Is it possible to make automatic backround setting?

Asked by Jobson

I have a lot of windows and terminators on my desktops.
Different servers and the same login everywhere. So sometimes i miss the window and work with another server.
Can we use some settings that can change window's backround and titlebar's colour? (+font style, size, etc)

for example regex -
^jobson@localhost$==green,red
^.*@server.local$==grey,blue
^.*@corporate.local$==blinking-red,white

It would be extremely useful.

Maybe some translucent OSD can be useful when changing terminator window.
Try not to miss a window when you are monitoring 20-30 servers at once.
The sub window title is too small to notice. Maybe we can place translucent auto-generated backround image with this caption?

hmm, there are some interesting issues here. The "Big Board" use case, while not directly relevant to me, is very interesting.
I'm not sure regexps are a good idea, and they would certainly make things complicated, but we could potentially make the titlebar significantly more obvious.
Perhaps you could file a wishlist bug about wanting a more obvious way to identify the focussed terminal?

Hi I'm considering creating a patch (well I'm halfway there I just have to put the configuration into the preferences) that will change the background colour of a terminal based upon whether the titlebar text matches a regexp. This way you can set it to turn the screen light blue if you log into a particular server and it will turn back to the default when you log out. I am using lots of different terminals on lots of different servers so would find this quite useful. I'm not sure this is a solution to this question in particular, but I was wondering if this would be a welcome addition to Terminator if I could come up with the patch?

Can you help with this problem?
