How to sync Tomdroid without U1?!

Asked by Kostyantyn Perun

I really need help! I have almost lost all my Tomboy notes due to recent problems with UbuntuOne synchronization. I rely heavily on Tomboy and Tomdroid. How do I set up an alternative sync to be able to read my Tomboy notes written on my PC? I tried to sync through Dropbox and UbuntuOne Files but it is unusable - you have to manually download all the notes and they are named in a very strange way so you don't know where is the note you need. That's just way too impractical.

I am afraid that until a new server is available the best solution is to go back to local folder sync using a usb flash memory.
Syncing at the beginning and at the end of every session will keep al devices up to date. I guess tomdroid wil also be able to sync to the flash memory with a local folder option. Lets hope rainy starts operating soon.

There is a way to synchronise you notes without U1.

First THANKS to the developers of Tomdroid!!! I really like the program,.

Syncing can be done by installing Dropsync.
Here is an article about the app http://blogs.computerworld.com/19821/sync_dropbox_android

It lets you sync 1 (free version) folder automatically to your phone from your Dropbox account. So if you set-up your Tomboy to sync to your Dropbox account on your computer and have Dropsync sync that folder to your phone, you're there!

I am getting some "error parsing response from SD card" messages, but after serveral retries I al last have all my notes on my mobile again.

Oh, thank you very much! At last I have all my notes in my phone again! Although it is still a workaround but nevertheless I'm very happy. Thank you and of course thank you to all the Tomdroid devs!

Somehow or another it doesn't work. Tomboy creates many many subfolders with .note files and Tomdroid works with only one folder with .notes and thus does not sync all the notes. I did get all my notes at first but later on I could get any new note.

This is a known issue...
https://bugs.launchpad.net/tomdroid/+bug/1159329

Tomboy has a very strange folder hierarchy based on the revision number of then note.

Can you help with this problem?
