default? username & password

first time ubuntu user. at first start is asking for username & password. how I go about that?

It sounds like you're saying you have Ubuntu installed but don't know the username and password? If so, it was whatever you setup when you installed it. If you're still in the installer and asking about that prompt, then setup whatever username and password you'd like.

I tried with any user also "root" , but it doesn't work . Exist some rules like windows (capital letter minimum or similar ; minimum lenght.
I have 8.10 VERSION .
