having a problem connet thru internet usb modem(reliance)

i have ubuntu 8.10 version iam not able to connect to internet through USB RELIANCE 1X CDMA modem which has a installation CD it is being installed in windows XP but not in ubuntu so as per ur suggestion i deleted the files from windows XP and again tried to install in Ubuntu but it is not doing so so plz help me regarding the installation of this modem....hoping soon reply......
